Into the Heart of Borneo

Retracing the steps of a 1978 expedition in Borneo by the Royal Geographical Society, ROM curators ventured to learn about insects, bats, and mushrooms.

Project Summary
From downtown Toronto into the heart of Borneo an Evermaven crew followed a team of scientists from the Royal Ontario Museum into Gunung Mulu National Park. On the world’s third largest island, nestled between Southeast Asia and Australia, the team retraced the steps of a 1978 expedition by the Royal Geographical Society. They went to learn about insects, bats, and mushrooms. Evermaven produced a documentary film and a photographic portfolio of their journey.

The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) is among the world’s leading institutions with a focus on natural history and world cultures.
